LE ROUBO 2011

I felt like Michael Clayton this week as I completed two big projects one of which was this French Workbench the Roubo. A 1700 hundreds French style workbench. It’s big and heavy, 8 foot long, 23in wide and the top is 5 ¼ thick. Total bench is 500lbs of Southern yellow pine and over a gallon of Titebond 2 glue keeping it in perfect harmonious like suspension. Its tornado proof, hurricane proof, tsunami proof but it’s not volcano proof. Over all it’s a workholding devise that I hope will serve me well into the future. Make comments and questions I would like to know what people think. Thanks’.

Completion.

Today I declare the bench completed. Although this is not the official photo shot, I hope to get to that tomorrow.

Finishing

Maybe this weekend I will finish the bench. For the most part all the parts are made. One detail or two and I will let it be at that.

The sliding deadman is in place and slides perfect. As it should.

This will be the leg vise.
